A few years of looking and we've found our authentic, characterful Perthshire country idyll. A proper “Cottage” on the outside but modernised and very comfortable and homely on the inside. We’d like to share it with you. We’re convinced you’ll feel the same way about it we do.
Bolt Hole Cottage is a modernised, welcoming, top-end cottage that will sleep 4 in two cosy bedrooms, each effectively with its own bathroom/ensuite. It is a relatively newly listed Cottage.
The spacious open plan lounge area with large wood-burner (all wood provided) set in a seriously authentic “country” fireplace, is just the place to relax after a days walking, biking, fishing, golfing or whatever takes your fancy. If an activity is not your thing then it’s equally the place to simply kick-back, recharge, read a book and listen to and watch the many countryside birds that visit the garden.
The Cottage is genuinely rural, with extensive gardens and spectacular views of the adjacent rolling countryside and views down Strathardle to the Cairngorms in the distance. Peaceful would be one of our watchwords (our nearest neighbours being approx. 100 metres away). Bolthole Cottage is both cosy and light and airy. Tri-fold doors give access to a large secluded and sheltered deck area.
Extensive gardens (0.4 acre) surround the cottage and immediate access to easy walking are at both ends of the garden. The 103km long-distance Cateran trail skirts the property. We have a real "hideaway" accessed by an unsurfaced track and forestry road. A few small jolts and bumps up the track are well worth the final destination. We are never disappointed to get through the gate….and relax!
SINGLE COUPLE DISCOUNT AVAILABLE
Note: Likely everyone has this these days, but we strongly recommend insurance to cover cancellation of booking etc. Bolt Hole Cottage is no more than 3-5 minutes from the main road - however, one of its main attractions is that it is genuinely rural and in driving the unsurfaced track you will climb perhaps 50-75 metres in height. Those familiar with Scotland will know that "weather" is one of our attractions and in Perthshire, December to early March can see snow, for example, when the rest of the country is clear. The skiers amongst you will relish this of course but close attention to weather forecasts and consideration of winter tyres would not unreasonable precautions at that time of year.
Safe Distancing & Cleaning
The Cottage location supports Guests' own measures to keep safe and distanced as they see fit. The gardens are private & fully enclosed and our closest neighbours are approx. 100m away.
We already pride ourselves on our very high standard of cleaning and this is done by us, not through staff or an agency. We have added hand sanitiser and surface wipes etc for the use of guests and we have suggested a minimum hygiene routine that Guests may wish to follow during their stay. This is contained within our joining instructions. We will continue to pay close attention to all advice that we should follow at this time and will adjust our procedures as necessary.
