Our approach to Covid-19 measures and some advice for Guests.

Guests should be scrupulous in following Scottish Government advice to keep themselves and everyone else safe. Your own judgement will be critical in deciding what you are comfortable with for your family or party of visitors. Some key, simple points remain the most important:

Stay 2m from everyone outside your household group if at all possible

Wear a face-covering when in enclosed or busy places

Wash hands or use hand sanitiser often.

Avoid busy and crowded places – so go early or late and be prepared to go elsewhere

Please bring hand sanitiser and face coverings with you. You are of course welcome to use our washing machine to keep washable face masks clean.

Before your stay we will need to gather the name and full home address of each Guest for possible tracking purposes were anyone to fall ill. We ask you to confirm that you have not had any Covid-19 like symptoms in the 2 weeks before you stay with us. We would also require to be advised if any Guest were to develop Covid-19 symptoms in the week after staying at Bolthole Cottage.

Our ‘Covid-19 cleaning regime

We’ve taken careful advice from the Scottish Government and our national Tourism body, VisitScotland and will keep this under constant review. We are using a range of viricidal, commercial-grade disinfectants compatible with our septic tank. In some areas we will steam clean and we will take extra care of high use/touch surface areas, from door handles and light switches to kettles and toasters. We will also ensure the sanitising of upholstery, including armchairs and curtains. Bed linen and towels will be washed to the highest standards and in accordance with the latest virus-control procedures. Mattress, duvet and pillow protectors are changed for every set of guests and all soft furnishings are steam cleaned and or treated with disinfectant. We have removed throws and cushions from beds and rugs from armchairs.

We have always provided cleaning products but have added to these and guests are welcome to use these. Guidance and advice about these will be on-site.

Hand sanitiser will available immediately inside the property for Guest use.

Arrival has always been a contact-free experience at Bolthole Cottage. Guests are welcome to arrive anytime from 4pm on the arrival day, while departure is by 10am on the final day. Between 10am and 4pm, we will work to clean the property. Guests and Owners do not meet. We will be asking guests to strictly adhere to departure and arrival times. Keys are collected via the key-box adjacent to the rear door and we will be carefully disinfecting them all.

All kitchenware and crockery and cutlery will have been checked to be clean. It would be for your own judgement to decide to wash again what you might wish to use. Dishwasher tablets are provided.

Bolthole Cottage has a selection of board games, books, local information leaflets and walking guides. We plan to keep these available and ask guests to wash their hands before and hands after use and use wipes etc if they wish to as added reassurance. Important information about the property is presented in a wipeable plastic folder and in addition we now provide this in electronic format with Guest access/joining instructions.

To help with our efforts to protect everyone, we ask guests to strip their beds and remove bin liners at the end of a stay, with easy arrangements in place. Advice on this will be on each of the beds.

If, during a stay, there is an exceptional reason why we may need to visit Bolthole Cottage (for example to rectify an issue), we will give as much notice as possible and adhere to physical distancing rules.

If you are unwell …

If you are unwell, please do not travel to Bolthole Cottage.

If you become unwell during your stay, Government guidance is for you to travel home immediately. Let us know what is happening as soon as possible in order that we can assist you in any way we can.

In an extreme circumstance where you could not travel home and had to self-isolate at Bolthole Cottage, we will arrange deliveries of food and medicines, but we will need to charge for your extended stay. We would then quarantine the premises for 72 hours prior to a deep clean for the next guests.
