Bolthole Cottage, Perthshire, Scotland

Lesley and David would love you to experience their Bolthole.

Bolthole Cottage is a charming and thoroughly modernised retreat that accommodates up to four guests in two cosy bedrooms, each featuring its own well-appointed bathroom/ensuite. Our cottage is not only welcoming but also pet-friendly, making it an ideal destination for those who enjoy walking, cycling, and spending time with their 4-legged companions. With enclosed gardens and immediate access to stunning walking trails right at our doorstep, your stay promises to be a delightful countryside escape.

The cottage's spacious open-plan lounge area boasts a large wood-burning stove (with a starter wood supply provided), nestled within a beautifully authentic country fireplace. It's the perfect spot to unwind after a day of outdoor activities, whether it's walking, biking, fishing, golfing, or simply indulging in your favourite leisure pursuits. If relaxation is your preference, our cottage provides an equally idyllic setting for unwinding, recharging, immersing yourself in a good book, and relishing the melodious visits of various countryside birds to our garden.

Nestled amidst genuinely rural surroundings, our cottage offers extensive, secure, and private gardens, along with breathtaking views of the rolling countryside surrounding us. Situated equidistant from Blairgowrie and Pitlochry, we enjoy an elevated position that offers superb vistas extending down Strathardle to the majestic Cairngorms in the distance. Tranquillity is a defining feature of our location, with our nearest neighbours comfortably distanced approximately 100 meters away.

Bolthole Cottage is a harmonious blend of cosiness and natural light, with tri-fold doors providing access to a generously proportioned, secluded, and sheltered rear deck area. The expansive gardens, spanning over 0.4 acres, envelop the cottage, and the convenience of easily accessible walking trails awaits you at both ends of our garden. The renowned 103km long-distance Cateran Trail skirts our property, beckoning explorers to embark on an unforgettable journey.

Accessing our hidden gem is an adventure in itself, with an un-surfaced track/forestry road leading the way. A few gentle jolts and bumps along the track are a small price to pay for the serenity that awaits at the journey's end. We're consistently delighted as we pass through the gate and surrender to the relaxation and natural beauty that Bolthole Cottage offers. Relax is all we need to say.

A few years of looking and we've found our authentic, characterful Perthshire country idyll. A proper “Cottage” on the outside but modernised, very comfortable; a real home from home on the inside. We’d like to share it with you. We’re convinced you’ll feel the same way about it we do.

Breaking news - we have our on-site Electric Vehicle fast Charger installed and ready for use, please see the dedicated page on our site for details and additional charges.

Please note, we do not permit the use of charger cables using our standard domestic power sockets. The existing electrical power sockets at the Cottage do not have the safety components required for vehicle charging as per the latest certification standards. The installation of a specialist, stand alone charger is therefore the route we have taken to support Guests' needs. Our insurers will not permit the use of these types of extension cables on the property and there is a greatly raised fire risk.

PLEASE INDICATE AT TIME OF BOOKING THAT YOU WOULD WISH ACCESS TO THE CHARGE POINT

Note: Likely everyone has this these days, but we strongly recommend insurance to cover cancellation of booking etc. Bolthole Cottage is no more than 3-5 minutes from the main road - however, one of its main attractions is that it is genuinely rural and in driving the track you will climb perhaps 50-75 metres in height. Those familiar with Scotland will know that "weather" is one of our attractions and in Perthshire, December to early March can see snow, for example, when the rest of the country is clear. The skiers and boarders amongst you will relish this of course but close attention to weather forecasts would be worthwhile at that time of year. As always, any questions phone, text or email us and we will be happy to help.
